Fall 2020

For Single-Person Households and Small Space Living
Never too small
A study by Euromonitor showed that through 2016-2030 there will be faster growth in single-person households than all other household types globally.
With the rise in solo-living, apartments and homes have become smaller. Micro-Apartments and such have become popular options as they are more practical because of housing shortages in urban areas.
Unexpectedly in 2020, the Coronavirus pandemic hit.
To prevent further spreading of the highly contagious virus, we entered a worldwide lockdown. People were ordered to stay at home as much as possible. Schools and workplaces closed and instead shifted to online.
An outbreak of mental health problems
Through Covid 19, we are suffering from more than just the pandemic itself. We are forced to stay home and for those who are living alone, it is especially more detrimental to mental health. We are cut off from our friends and family as well as losing our routine of going to work or school.
There is no clarity on when the pandemic will end.
CDC Reports show that 40.9% of adults say that they have had at least one mental health effect whether it be anxiety or depression, trauma or stress-related disorder, or the use of substances in order to cope.

This is especially the case for those living alone in small spaces.
Normally more time would be spent outdoors.
People living in small spaces usually see the home as a place to just sleep and eat. They don’t plan to stay in those homes the whole day.
Now they are stuck home most of their day.

01 Wave Rest Bed
A solution that encourages both productivity and rest. The Wave Rest Bed provides a flexible zone in the home where people may sleep, play, eat, or work.

Mattress Structure
Fold up to lounge.
The mattress can act as a lounge chair for people to work, snack, and relax.
Wave surfacing applied along the base.
The rhythmic shadows cast throughout the wave pattern calm the mood of the space. As the base of the Wave Rest Bed, it acts to ease tension and anxiety before sleep.
Hidden storage drawer
An organized space on its own provides relaxation. In a small home, keeping clean is crucial to avoid cramping the space. The Wave Rest Bed makes use of the footprint it has already taken up by providing storage underneath.
Pull to open
The bottom of the drawer has a milled handle that is easy to grip.
02 Wave Pull-up Table
A multifunctional component that is lightweight and easy to move around the home. Serves as a surface that accompanies the Wave Rest Bed.

Slides perfectly under the bed
Work + Lounge
While accompanying the Wave Rest Bed, the table can act as a nightstand, work surface, or even a dining table. Many different activities can be achieved in a cozy space.
A fluid lifestyle.
With the handlebar on top, the Wave Pull-up table can easily move anywhere in the home. Its versatility enables the freedom to make the table a surface for any use.
03 Wave Pouf
An accent piece that adds a sense of coziness wherever it goes in the home. The wave pouf can be a seat, a footrest, or a storage component.

Tactile Upholstery
The fuzzy texture conveys coziness and warmth that is elevated by the wave-surfaced wood, to achieve lightness. A felt piece placed beneath the wooden element enhances that lightness by forming a shadow below.
Appearing to slightly float above the ground along with its comforting forms and textures, the Wave Pouf is a statement piece for the home.
Open to store items.
This small pouf can be used all throughout the home as a stool. It can also store more small items.
04 Wave Mirror
Mirrors create an optical illusion that a space is more open and larger than it truly is. The Wave Mirror visually expands a small space and creates a personalized productive hub.
Accommodating for those who don’t want a full-length mirror.
Not everyone is comfortable with a full-length mirror in their homes.
This half mirror option provides the opportunity for open storage space that allows people to show objects that add their personality to their homes.
Both a mirror and productive space.
Multi-functional furniture is essential in a small home. The Wave Mirror is a piece that not only opens up space but also provides a zone for productivity.
A personalized workspace.
The open shelving and magnetic board provide an opportunity for people to add their own unique taste. Their workspace reflects their personal lifestyle.

Closed Storage
Pulled by the side handle, the workspace has three drawers that can store away items that do not need to be seen at all times. It keeps the workspace clean and well organized.
